About me
Rod is a Metis entrepreneur and has worked as a technology executive, game developer, filmmaker and politician. In the mid-1990s Rod launched Canada’s first retail web-based multi-player game called The Stone which was featured in USA Today and Entertainment Weekly. Rod also had the privilege of working with Pink Floyd on a documentary about the game which was produced in 2004. Mr. Bruinooge went on to serve in the Canadian Parliament for 10 years including in the role of Secretary for Indigenous Affairs as well as being a Member of the Standing Committee on Culture and Heritage. Rod was instrumental in overseeing the legislation that created the Truth and Reconciliation commission as well the official Apology for the Residential School Era. Rod continues to live in Winnipeg and is excited to work alongside other NREN partners on behalf of MRnet.
