About me
Michael Spaling is the Principal Security Architect at the University of Alberta, a public research university ranked fourth in Canada and among the top 100 globally. He's had some excellent recognitions along the way, like receiving the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Medal for his notable contributions to the cybersecurity industry and making it to the Top 10 Under 40 list by Canadian Security Magazine. He has published a few CVEs and was the Chief Security Officer for a startup that was one of the first to offer digitized legal services. He also has a pending patent working its way through the US Patent and Trademark Office, and, in between all that, Michael teaches the Advanced Network Security course in the Master of Science in Internetworking program at the University of Alberta.
