Tara is a First Nations woman from the Kehewin Cree Nation, proudly serving as Alberta Beach’s first Indigenous Mayor. She is a diligent and steadfast member of council, sitting on 17 boards and committees. Tara’s passion for her community and the region is unwavering and she contributes significantly to the lives of Albertans. Tara has a background in corporate security and close protection, as well as a certificate as a full spectrum Indigenous doula and is currently pursuing her certificate in the Cree language.
Tara is particularly passionate about safety within her village and is a dedicated member of the Community Police Advisory Committee. She also has a profound love for libraries, serving on her local library board as well as being a trustee and executive for the regional board. Tara has worked tirelessly as a community member, serving on council and in many local groups and has a unique perspective on elections in Alberta, specifically in smaller municipalities.
